Macbeth had been a true leader, brave and strong in the battlefield. Even Malcolm, the King's son heaped praise on him. His ability too take charge of his actions and decisions made him a perfect leader. Also, his loyalty to his king made him the best general and even deserved the "Thane" title. But once he gets to know of the prophecy of the three witches, he did not wait for fate to take it's time to work. Instead, he took matters in his own hand and decided to get things done in his own terms. His courage and bravery led to his actions of murdering the king. Once the initial deed is done, then he finds no reluctance to stop. The first murder was the key to all succeeding actions. Also, his loyalty to the king shifted to his own side, making everything his own personal gain. The prophecy of the three witches also gave him the justification of his deeds. His confidence in his abilities further gave him the perfect combination of succeeding in his zeal to be the king of Scotland. Thus, whatever traits he had during his success also led to his own downfall.
