After thorough researching, the analogy fits Lincoln's purpose in the "house divided" speech because of the learning strategies that he used in the process.  The House Divided speech by Abraham Lincoln was given during the period and times of 1850's.

Lincoln's purpose of this analogy was to make an understandable comparison of how foolish the people of America are being. By using comprehendible concepts like the preparation of and falling off a horse, he is able to make common ground with the common people and authorities of America. In this analogy, he is comparing people still fighting for the right to keep slavery going and people going back and forth, using flawed logic and policies to pass their agenda, to the concept of preparing a horse only for the person preparing said horse to fall off it. He is saying that futile effort of the government to keep slavery, like saying that if one man finds the abolishment of slavery unfit in some place, it is suddenly popular sovereignty and they can reverse the law, will crumble and come back to bite them in the butt. By using an analogy and comparing two unrelated things through by highlighting their similarities, he is able to give his argument emotional power and persuade his audience.
