When the narrator said the statement "Manera lit his lighter and passed it around. The lighter was shaped like a Fiat radiator. I told them what I had heard." then he develops the narrator through character narrative; therefore, the correct answer would be letter C. character narrative.

Direct and Indirect characterization are not the correct options in this excerpt because, in both techniques, the author is the narrator of the story and they tell the story from another point of view, different from the main character's point of view.
