Facts from the ASPCA. Facts on puppy mills. You could talk about how pitbulls/ bully breeds are in shelters far more often than other dogsled. You could speak of the killing of black cats bear Halloween.
I feel like a good attention getter would be a story (the Michael Vick case) etc. if you need anymore help I'll be volunteering at a shelter soon and I'm learning a lot about this stuff currently.
