What paradoxical statement is found multiple times in john 1? what does it mean?

It is saying that God was here from the beginning and he is the Word, which is Gods spoken word. So God is the Word,and the Word created the world. The Word also came as flesh and died for us.  We will never understand this passage completely because we are not God. i hope this helps.
