Revealing the outcome in the prologue dilutes the story of any suspense. It is mandatory for any reader to read the prologue to know the basics of the story. And being told what is going to happen is like knowing that Darth Vader is Luke's father before you even watch the movies. I would prefer not to be told what happens in the story, because it gives the novel or section of writing the upper hand in obtaining and keeping the readers attention throughout the story.

Revealing the outcome of the plot in the prologue can be an effective technique for creating suspense. If the story is only about the main suspense then that may not be the case, but usually, it will be an effective technique to create suspense if the whole journey is just as interesting as the end, if not more.

Revealing the outcome of the plot in the prologue can be an effective technique for creating suspense as can be seen in the reasoning below:

•It helps in captivating the attention of the readers right from the beginning of the story.

•The readers are also more eager to find out how the story came to such an end.

•It helps in creating a background as well as the climax of the story and readers will find it impossible to stop before finding out the whole plot of the story.

•The prologue may reveal that the end may not be a happily-ever-after for the characters but that would just intrigue the readers to find out more about what led to those events to happen.

Whether the readers would prefer to know the plot beforehand or not would depend upon their own preferences but revealing some part of the end would definitely be suspenseful for the readers.
