Friar Laurence tells Romeo that his suicide attempt was a poor choice because he still has plenty of things to be thankful for. He should be thankful that he was not killed by Tybalt, that his execution was not ordered by the Prince, and that he is married to a woman who loves him. Romeo thinks that his banishment is worth than death so he wants to kill himself. Friar Laurence tries to get him to see all of the things that he should be thankful for because he is not actually dead. They come up with a plan for Romeo to see his bride that night, and then hide out in Mantua until Juliet joins him or they can get the banishment overturned.
