Why didn't the people of sighet, hungary (and other small towns like it) run away or fight back when they were rounded up and sent to ghettos and eventually deported?

the didn't believe or understand what they where they were going and what was going to happen.

they knew and accepted their fate.

they believed a great savior would come rescue them.

they had lost all hope and just gave in to what they were supposed to do because they didn't want to live.
