Schools should charge students a fee if they do not recycle their trash properly. Most students
will not want to pay the fee. So the threat of a fee
will prompt them to pay attention to how they dispose
of their trash. Therefore, rather than dumping
everything in one bin, they will put plastic bottles in
the plastic recycle bin and used paper in the paper
recycle bin. Then there will be less work for custodial
staff, who will no longer need to spend time sorting
trash.
