I think the lesson of this story is that we shouldn’t judge people using stereotypes because at the end of the day some people whether they might be different from you or not, will work to achieve their own goals even if they might seem “unrealistic” or “impossible” to you. I think Alex writes about these themes because society has a messed up idea that when other people are different from you, whether it’s sexuality, gender, race, ethnicity, etc., it could be used as a way to degrade a person. I think that he just wants to let his readers know that they should keep working hard to achieve our goals, whether it’s big or small, and not letting anyone tell them otherwise.
