Read It! The constellation Andromeda comes from Greek mythology. Andromeda was the daughter of the king of
Ethiopia. The king's wife made a bold claim. She said that Andromeda was more beautiful than Poseidon's
nymphs. Poseidon, the god of the sea, was angered by this claim. Poseidon sent a sea monster to attack Ethiopia.
Only one thing would calm Poseidon: Andromeda had to be killed. The sea monster chained Andromeda to a
rock. However, Perseus, the son of Zeus, killed the monster and set Andromeda free. Perseus then married
Andromeda, and they returned to his homeland.
