The Empire State Building
The Empire State Building is a historic structure in Manhattan, New York. The construction of this world-famous skyscraper started in 1930. This building has 103 floors. The architect William Lamb chose a frame made of steel that allowed the building to support a lot of weight. Its strong structure also helped Lamb to create a taller building.
During that time, the United States was just coming out of the Great Depression. The Empire State Building was constructed in a manner that was efficient. Most materials needed for its completion, such as steel beams and stone works, were prepared at a different location. The workers only had to fix them into place on delivery. The building itself was mostly made of glass, steel, and aluminum. It’s a marvel that it took only 410 days to be completed.
