In March, NERC launched the #NameOurShip campaign to involve the public in naming its new world-class research vessel, one that would 17 the abilities of the scientific community. The name of the ship was to be developed straight from the 18 of one lucky contestant’s imagination. The ship, which will study the impacts of climate change for the British Antarctic Survey, will carry some of the most advanced and 19 scientists in the world.

Jo Johnson, the UK's science minister, asked, “Can you imagine the expectation or 20
of one of the world's biggest research labs traveling to the Antarctic with your suggested name proudly emblazoned on the side?" Johnson said.
