In the essay “The Teacher who changed my life”, by Nicholas Cage, the young mans mother, Eleni Gatzoyiannis had been imprisoned, tortured ,and shot by communist guerrillas for sending him and three of his sisters to freedom. Later on he his sisters were taken with their dads and left to the U.S. Four years later when he was enrolled in high school he met this teacher named Marjorie Hurd. He met her by following the Lutheran minister during News paper club, their he started learning how to put out a newspaper and skills that would last him twenty five years.He got in a advanced class later on and learned the best of grammar and began to understand the logic and structure of the English language. The difficult task he had to do was to write about what happened to his family in Greece. He did not like the idea of thinking about his past it brought to many terrible memories but at the end he insisted. In the paper he wrote he mentioned that the coming of spring always reminded him of the last time he said goodbye to his mother. After he turned his paper in his Teacher viewed the paper and published it.His paper was really good that he got awarded a plaque from John F. Kennedy.
