I have an assignment that asks me to pretend you are the Chef in "The Briefcase story" and write a letter to the professor's son. Use the text (its okay to skim ahead if needed-but there are no facts about the son) to gather information to help you write. You can use your poetic license to give the son and professor a name in the letter as well as choosing whether or not you address him as the chef or the professor.
