After Darrin and I climbed out of the pond, we were soaked and
terrified of getting in trouble. Then our chaperone, Mr. Curtis, arrived.
He shook his head at the mess we'd gotten ourselves into. I looked
over at Darrin, who was covered in pond grass and mud, and we
braced ourselves for a lecture. But a smile took over Mr. Curtis's face,
and he took out his camera, saying, "Smile, you two. This is a moment
you won't want to forget! So even though we were wet, we were really
relieved that we weren't in trouble.
A Then Mr. Curtis smirked and said, "How will I explain this to
Principal Higgins?
B. That's when I realized that even when you fall in a pond, you will
eventually get dried off, and your life will probably continue
without much of a change
C. Darrin and I finally got back on the bus and spent the ride home
reliving and laughing about our amusement park experience.
D. Now when I think of that trip, I am reminded that the best
memories are often the ones we didn't plan.
