In the great Gatsby why did he kill himself?

The reason that Wilson thinks Gatsby killed Myrtle is because Tom told Wilson that Gatsby was the owner of the yellow car that had hit Myrtle. Wilson thinks that the reason why he killed her is that he didn't want to talk to her for the moment. Also, In Daisy's house, gatsby told and promised daisy that he would take the blame if they were ever caught. After that, tom tells george that it was gatsby's care that killed myrtle. George went to gatsby's house and shot and killed gatsby, then killed himself. Gastby was later found.
