So now the boat is shorthanded by one man, and we are without a cook. Captain Aumack says that since I was the cause of the trouble, I must be
the cook. Beggars can't be choosers, I guess. Mr. Audubon chuckles about
my new role, but I don't think it's funny. The more chores I have, the less
time I can spend on my drawing. And I am getting a powerful hankering
to spend more time at it, thanks to John James Audubon!
