Neil deGrasse Tyson is a highly accomplished astrophysicist, planetary scientist, author, and something of a celebrity science educator to millions of people around the world. He is also the director of the Hayden Planetarium, and has hosted various well-known space-based science shows like "Cosmos" and "StarTalk". In 1995 he became acting director of the planetarium and became its director in 1996, a position he still holds. Because of his fascination for astronomy, Tyson's research was largely focused on stellar evolution, cosmology, galactic astronomy, as well as stellar formation.
