World Theeplanting day is always a memorable event. All the districts in Zambia conmemorate this in different styles. Among the nativities performed is tree planting which
happens to be the major activity taking the centre stage. In Mumbwa District the Guest of
honour was the District Commissioner (DC). Before she could address the audience the
following points served as her guide
The world has undergone massive deforestation
• The natural pattern eycle of rainfall has been affected,
Water sources have been devastated by the cutting down of trees.
Rach person to plant two trees per month
Government to institute severe measures on charcoal bumers
Comercializing trees like 'Mukula' should be severely punished
• Preserve all the small trees.
Schools to create conservation clubs.

Forest rangers should be trained and be employed in all districts.
• The syllabus for Geography should emphasise forestation
• Pupils to go for education tours to appreciate trees.
All stakeholders should promote good habits on preserving trees.
Reward institutions that plant more trees.
