Bradbury employs a third-person limited narrator in Fahrenheit 451. We know only Montag’s movements and thoughts. The narration follows Montag like a camera, and the reader is never allowed into the lives of other characters, except for what they say to him. This inevitably increases our sympathy for Montag. Analyze the author’s use of language. It is essential to getting across the intended meaning. Select four quotes from Part 1 of the novel that signifies key ideas that the author hopes the reader takes from the book. They may be quotes spoken by characters or from the narration. Please include page (or paragraph) numbers with the quotes (MLA citations).

Fill in the completed worksheet and submit it to your instructor for a grade.

Begin reading Part Two of the novel. Five significant characters have been introduced thus far: Montag, Clarisse, Mildred, Beatty, and Faber. As you are reading, think about what motivates each of these characters.
