The gathering was massive, and the bouncers should have been ashamed. Not only had they not accomplished their simple task of collecting invitations at the door, but they had evidently called their friends, families, and casual acquaintances to crash the gate, as well. At a party that should have been an intimate occasion, no fewer than 80 uninvited "guests" arrived to take more than their fair share of the free food. Why did the author write that the bouncers evidently called other people?

A) The author noticed that many uninvited people arrived to see the bouncers.
B) The author was excited to learn that many new faces would be arriving at the party.
C) The author thought the people who arrived should have received invitations anyway.
D) The author was unaware that invitations were necessary in the first place.
