First Paragraph: Literary Elements o Choose one of the poems from Unit 1. o Identify literary elements that the poet used in the poem. See the vocabulary list for examples of literary elements we’ve encountered in this unit. o Explain how these literary elements create, add, or show the poem’s meaning. o Include lines from the poem that contain the literary elements. Properly cite the lines. Second Paragraph: Structure o Choose one of the poems from Unit 1. This cannot be the same poem as in paragraph one. o Identify the structure the poet used in the poem. o Explain how the structure creates, adds, or shows the poem’s meaning. o Include lines from the poem that demonstrate an aspect of the structure. Properly cite the lines. Third Paragraph: Favorite o Choose one of the poems from Unit 1. This cannot be the same poem as in the previous paragraphs. o Explain why this is your favorite poem. o How does this poem relate to your own life experiences? o Include your favorite lines from the poem.
