Saturday night I was sound asleep when my father switched on the lamp. Looking at him in the bright light, I mumbled, "What's up?" "Come with me," he smiled.
I followed him outside. Looking up, I saw greenish lights shimmering in the sky. They looked like giant curtains waving in the breeze.
"It's the aurora borealis, or northern lights," said my father. He explained what causes the aurora borealis, but I didn't hear what he was
saying. All I could do was watch with wonder as the eerie lights silently flickered.
