Amanda Gorman's poem, "The Hill We Climb", is an uplifting poem that not only recognizes the problems facing the United States but also encourages the nation and its citizens to move ahead without allowing racial differences to pose as a barrier to their unity.

She recognized the struggles of their founding fathers who fought for a revolution and reminded the present generation of citizens that they owed it to their children to leave a better nation.
