When Phyllis remembers and professed the sweater to be hers, Rachel became enraged with both of them, Sylvia and Phyllis, and call them names. This reveals that she is a vulnerable and pliable child.  Such comments can not be justified but can be understood as Rachel is just an eleven-year-old girl, who is aging towards teens, conscious of everything.
