Notwithstanding the fact that American football has been a popular sport for
more than a century, the mental and physical damage that it causes to
athletes is evidence enough for establishing a ban, at least for younger
athletes.
Many parents unknowingly endanger the lives of their children by encouraging
them to play football, and regardless els the reason, it is simply wrong.
My brother Sanjay is a dedicated high school football player, and the fact that
he has had sports-related concussions more than once increases my concern
that this sport could be damaging his health.
