Descriptive Writing Huck's Perspective
Reread this line from the most recent chapter.
"So I wilted right down onto the planks then and give up and it was all I could do to keep
from crying."
Imagine how he feels at this moment. Write a passage from the point of view of Huck.
Describe how he felt when he saw the Duke and King coming up behind them in a
canoe. Be as descriptive as possible, and write at least 15 sentences! Include at least
one metaphor and one simile. Focus on the emotional side of Huck. Have Huck
display at least two physical symptoms to convey true emotion. Use the five senses
one time each (smell, taste, sight, feel, hear) to help convey the emotion too. Try to
make the reader feel the same emotions Huck is feeling.
*This is more practice with descriptive writing for your adventure narrative that you'll be
writing after we finish the novel.
