They have improved communication since they help us express what we could only communicate in a face to face conversation, where we use body language and a tone. With emoticons, we now can do these things and give clear messages.

In conclusion, emoticons solved a problem that previous generations had when writing and expressing themselves. It is the language of my era, but also is of the next ones.
