The struggle for universal suffrage has been a long one. It has been substantially achieved in many countries, so that large numbers of people enjoy this treasured
right. But has the right to vote been work for all people? To take one example, som
felons-person who have been found guilty of serious crimes-are deprived of that
right. Does it make sense that because of a conviction in one area of behavior, a
citizen should be treated as a criminal in an unrelated area?
