2) As a peasant and a farmer, Pahom believed that if he had more land, he'd be content and not tempted by the devil given that he'd have plenty land for farming. The more the land he owned the larger the size of his farm and the more income he'd have. In a way, it is positive to have this kind of mindset. A mindset that has figured out a way out of poverty and is bent on achieving it.

3) The negativity in Pahom's mindset is that as he acquired more land, he lost the ability to be content. His greed took over. The lesson here is that wanting to be successful is as important as knowing where one's abilities end.
