I did not worry much about the meter, but focused instead of making the lines rhyme. The rhyme scheme is: ABAB CDCD EEE. The poem's theme revolves around being optimistic and kind. The speaker is willing to learn from his/her past mistakes and become a better person. He/She is also determined to see the good in other people.
