PLEASE HELP ASAP DUE TOMMROW Voices of an Emerging Nation – 2.06 Paragraph (25 points)

In Unit 1 we read about the early-settlers and how their ideals of courage, piety and industry helped them survive.

In Unit 2, the nation had begun to take shape. Having survived the journey from Europe and established themselves in North America, the settlers could now turn their attention to their own growth and well-being. Now that you have finished reading the works in Unit 2, which ideals seemed to be important to the settlers in this emerging nation?

PROMPT: Identify ONE ideal that was important to the Revolutionary-era citizens. Was it courage or piety or industry, or was it something entirely new? Write a paragraph which states the ideal most important to this group, support it with text evidence and reasoning.

Remember, a solid response includes three parts:

· Make a claim: What value seemed most important to the Revolutionary-era citizens?

· Provide text evidence: Where do we see evidence that this value was important? Choose quotes/evidence from at least 2 different texts which support your claim.

· Explain how your evidence connects to your claim by sharing your reasoning: How does each quote prove your claim? Go beyond simply showing the value exists. Instead, explain WHY the value was important and how your text evidence shows it.

Shaping Sheet: Use this as a tool to gather your ideas, evidence and thinking. Once you’re done, you can use this information to write your paragraph. ALL ideas from your Shaping Sheet should be included in your paragraph.
