The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was written by Samuel Clemens who wrote under the name, Mark Twain. When Twain was a boy in school in the 1840s, he always earned the medal for winning the weekly spelling bee. Once, he left out the first "r" in February so that a girl he liked would
