Read the passage. I Can Make You Rich!

Let’s talk about get-rich books—you know, the kind that tell you six habits that can make you a billionaire or seventeen strategies for becoming a celebrity. There are zillions of these expert tomes, and to me that fact is pretty amazing in itself. Can there be so many reliable ways to get rich, each of them so dependable that anyone spending fifteen dollars on a paperback can turn that trivial investment into a fortune? Can there be so many super-rich people in the world who want to take time off from their busy round of moneymaking to write books advising the rest of us how to compete with them? Frankly, I doubt it. And yet if you patrol the aisles of a bookstore or click through the website of an online bookseller, you’ll be staggered by the sheer number of success strategies that all, apparently, work. And meanwhile, do the methods which they so freely give to the entire world contain any shred of originality or surprise? No! Those six habits all turn out to be what everyone already knows: Be assertive but not obnoxious; know how to get the best from the people you manage; take time to recharge; recognize opportunity—and so on. If these obvious (and often useful) recommendations were enough to make people rich, everyone in the nation would own a yacht and a villa.
