Hachiko is a touching true story about a faithful dog who awaits his master, Dr. Ueno, every dat outside Tokyo's Shubuya railway station. This story is recounted through the eyes of Ken taro, a fictional boy who meets Hachiko in Shibuya station and befriends her.

Hachiko has waited for his owner's return in the same spot every day for ten years, even after Dr. Ueno's death. Following Hachiko's death, a statue was erected in his honor, which can still be seen in Shibuya Station today.

Hachiko was Dr. Ueno's dog. It was an Akita breed that would wait for Dr. Ueno at the train station for 9 years until it died. When the dog -  Hachiko died, the people of the train station showed their loyalty and devotion to it by burying it beside Dr. Ueno. The cemetery where Dr.  Ueno was buried is located in Aoyama Cemetery, Tokyo, Japan.

Before the death of the dog, a memorial in the form of a statue made of bronze was set up for the dog in front of the train station. This was in 1934. The dog Hachiko died in 1935.

The people of Tokyo immortalized Hachiko because its actions showed that loyalty was important to them. It was a way of telling generations of Japanese to come as well as the whole world that loyalty was and is an important value system to the people of Japan, Tokyo especially.
