last week, i saw a friend cheating on a math exam: much to my surprise. my college has an honor system that i take seriously--therefore, ignoring what jeff did wasn't an option. i had two choices left--report the cheating to the professor or confront my friend. i decided to confront jeff(i thought i should hear an explanation before i did anything else. besides, he's a good student: i didn't understand why he would have to cheat. when i asked him face-to-face why he cheated, he said he was afraid he would fail the exam. he said he felt really terrible about what he did; as he should. he also said he'd never cheat again: and i believe him. i told him i wouldn't report him--in addition, i offered to him study for the next exam. i think this experience taught jeff not to cheat: or i hope it did. for my part, i learned two things; friends friends, and it's important to have confidence in yourself.
