Selecting a graduate school was an intimidating task. Deciding what program offers the best fit must have began with applicants asking lots of questions. Different schools are offering different support packages. Some paid for tuition while some offers a stipend in exchange for part time labor. Graduate students in a wide variety of fields worked as research assistants, teaching assistants, and combinations of the two. The more prestigious the program, the better the benefits is. But, well-known programs may only selects 5% or fewer of their applicants for admission. In choosing a program, applicants should have considered support, health insurance benefits, cost of living, and academic suitability. A program may have had a great support package for grad students studying neurobiology, but if an applicant wants to have been a plant biologist, that program may not was a good fit. Applicants should also be sured they do not disqualifyed themselves through carelessness. Schools and their requirements for application need to be studyed closely several months prior to the due date so that there was time to gather the necessary materials. In the end, the best and most difficult decision will have been deciding which acceptance offer to accept.
