How do supporting details reinforce the central idea in this passage? Many people have heard the expression "to bury your head in the sand
like an ostrich." This means refusing to see or deal with a problem.
However, it is not actualy true that ostriches bury their heads in the
sand when predators are near. Ostriches do dig holes in the ground
with their beaks, but this is to store their eggs, not to hide. When they
are scared of predators, ostriches usually run away.
