O'Brien says that in 1975, just before Saigon at long last imploded, he got a seventeen-page, transcribed letter from Bowker saying that he was unable to locate a significant use for his life after the war. He worked a few brief positions and lived with his folks. At a certain point he selected junior school, yet he in the end exited.
