"Three years back, I visited my uncle in the summer
vacation. In his village, there is a big
and lovely pond with lotus and lily
flowers in it. I learnt how to swim
there. My uncle's only son Nits is of
my age and an expert swimmer. Nits
can also skate, ride a bicycle, and
hike up mountains for days. The
mountain in their village is gorgeous
too. Nits taught me the art of
swimming. The pond is shallow near
the banks. The first day of the
exercise was really very unpleasant,
so I was reluctant to go to the pond
the next day. Because on the first
day, I gulped a lot of water, sank a
couple of times, and some water
entered my nose as well. However,
Nits persuaded me to continue, and
soon I began to enjoy swimming.'

Will give if correct read the passage first of all, if someone says your dream is impossible, they’re wrong. you can’t prove that something is impossible-all you know is that [it] hasn’t been done yet. people said no one could scale mount everest, but in 1953, sir edmund hilary and tenzing norgay gazed down upon the world from its summit. people said that man could not fly, but in 1903, orville and wilbur wright made the first sustained powered flight in a heavier-than-air machine. people said, “okay, we admit that someone could climb mount everest, and we admit that man has learned to fly, but no one will ever, ever walk on the face of the moon.” if we can send three men a quarter of a million miles away and bring them home safely, is there any great task we cannot accomplish? which identifies the textual evidence that best supports the claim: the authors purpose is to persuade? a: the author shares historical information about the wright brothers. b: the author states that men have walked the moon. c: the author states that others who think your dreams are impossible are wrong. d: the author wants to know what tasks we cannot accomplish.

Read the passage below and answer the question that follows. ‘you make me feel uncivilized, daisy,’ i confessed on my second glass of corky but rather impressive claret. ‘can’t you talk about crops or something? ’ i meant nothing in particular by this remark but it was taken up in an unexpected way. ‘civilization’s going to pieces,’ broke out tom violently. ‘i’ve gotten to be a terrible pessimist about things. have you read ‘the rise of the coloured empires’ by this man goddard? ’ ‘why, no,’ i answered, rather surprised by his tone. ‘well, it’s a fine book, and everybody ought to read it. the idea is if we don’t look out the white race will be—will be utterly submerged. it’s all scientific stuff; it’s been proved.’ in this passage, tom’s ideas about race relations come off as uncivilized. what literary device is fitzgerald using here? irony personification metaphor simile
