2.The new government faced many problems. In western Pennsylvania farmers opposed a tax on whiskey.

3. The natives were angered by the invasion and took action and attacked the English settlers by shooting arrows and killing them. It did not help when John Smith was trying to calm them down by trying to make them under stand that they mean no harm the other English men were still angry and attacked the natives.

4. They forced the American crews into the British navy. This practice was called impressment.

5. The treaty was an important diplomatic success for the United States. It resolved territorial disputes between the two countries and granted American ships the right to free navigation of the Mississippi River as well as duty-free transport through the port of New Orleans, then under Spanish control.
