Dr Pepper is one of the oldest soft drinks in America. It all started in a small drug store in Waco, Texas. The Original Pepper Charles Alderton was a pharmacist in Morrison’s Old Corner Drug Store. He liked making drinks for people at the soda fountain. In 1885, Alderton created a new drink called the Waco (pronounced Way-koe) after the city where he lived and worked. Later, the name was changed to Dr Pepper. A Growing Business Very soon, other businesses with soda fountains wanted to buy the syrup to make Dr Pepper.
