(1) In the 1950s, accordion player Werner Thomas of Davos, Switzerland, wrote a song for the flock of ducks and geese in his care. (2) He named his tune "Der Ententanz" or "The Duck Dance." (3) In the early 1960s, Thomas performed the song as a restaurant musician. (4) The people in town loved it and created the famous dance moves. (5) Thomas and his song were discovered by a customer and music producer named Louis van Rijmenant. (6) He liked the song and recorded it. (7) From there, its popularity spread around the globe.
