The novel, “The Hunger Games” written by Suzanne Collins, very complex characters were introduced to the reader. One of these being the main protagonist, Katniss Everdeen. What sets this story apart from other dystopian novels is her motivation and relationships with other characters. Her actions of volunteering as tribute classify her as brave, but yet she is scared of loving Peeta and she is scared letting others in. She is interesting because it is evident especially in Catching Fire and Mockingjay that she will go to any lengths to save the ones she loves even though sometimes in exception for Prim, she doesn’t yet know she loves them.
