Write about a time when you had an unexpected learning experience. What happened? What did you learn?

When entering the double doors of the dojo you have no idea what you will be doing for this test until you actually do it. You just have to go with the flow and use the skills that you have learned over the years and years of training. That was the feeling I had when going for my first degree brown belt. I knew how these test work you start with basics which was the most easiest part of the test. Then there is the kata which is the combination of basics in a set. The last part of the test is ring fighting. This is where you have to fight three people in a row and the match won’t end until you can score the point on the other person. The last part of the test was ring fighting and I was already fading. I Had a little bit until my match. I caught my breath and drank some water it was not enough to get me through. My match came and felt almost there but, not back to full strength. The match came I fought with what I learned over the years and my opponent had done the same. After the first minute of the fight all of a sudden boom a shot to head. The next thing I knew I was seeing stars. One of the sensei’s there was paramedic and knew what to do. He came over and asked me some questions and stated that I may or not have sustained a partial concussion. I needed to continue so I did. During as they were giving my opponent the penalty. Another problem arose, a drip of blood fell from my face. I made it clear that it had happened I took a tissue and rolled it up and put it in my nose to stop the bleeding. One of the other sensei’s there said it was a good look for me. I still kept going then won the match. That was it now the tricky part. Waiting for the results is always the part I forget about and fear the most. After a good solid twenty minutes all the judges had come back told everyone to get back in line. The lower ranks in the back went first which made tension in the front line very high. It finally came to me and I had done it somehow.
