PLZ HELPP First, assume the role of one character in The Canterbury Tales so that you can respond in his or her voice (in first person). Second, select two quotes from two other characters in the Tales. Third, respond to each character’s quote in a dialogue format.

FOR EXAMPLE:

(I am assuming the role of Wife of Bath).

“But first I beg of you, in courtesy, Not to condemn me as unmannerly If I speak plainly and with no concealings And give account of all their words and dealings, Using their very phrases as they fell” (p. 44), said the Narrator.
“I will not condemn you! You are keeping our stories alive! Without these, how will future pilgrims know of our lives?”
“Old lady, by the Lord I know indeed that such was my behest, But for God’s love think of a new request, Take all my goods, but leave my body free” (p. 56), said the young knight.
“Do you really think you will ever be free? Your life will be forever chained as a result of your crime. What you did to that young girl will haunt you forever.”
