Malia closed and locked the door. Then she moved her desk in front of it, and she dragged her couch in front of the desk. By the time she was finished, most of the room's furniture was piled in front of the front door, and anyone or anything who tried to get through it would have quite a lot to contend with. Malia surveyed her handiwork and, satisfied that she was safe, went upstairs. Unfortunately, she didn't consider the fact that the path to and from the home's front window was unobstructed and clear. How does the writer's use of foreshadowing in this passage impact the text?
