Yes-1) Monsters did attack Grover--Mrs Dodds-Fury and Minotar. 2)When car crashed, Grover knocked out. Percy distracted the Minotar when he was standing over Grover, fought the Minotar on his own and carried Grover to Camp Half-blood.
No-Lots of things were out of Grover's controll. Example, he wanted to watch Percy but he ditched Grover. He brought Chiron to help watch Percy. He was getting Percy to camp but car accident knocked him out.
