Chewbacca could be described as a taciturn character because he does not talk much in the movies other than to express a war cry here and there. In the movies, you could see that Chewbacca has little to no lines, but still is a memorable character in the movies because he is always around protagonists like Han Solo or Luke Skywalker fighting against the Dark side. Besides that, it only seems that only Solo could understand what it is he says since they've been together since the beginning of time.
